There are three reasons why items in PRISM or the Vault may have embargoed or restricted access:

  1. It is a metadata-only item, not the full text
    • Contact digitize@ucalgary.ca to see if we can digitize a copy and make it available to you under library exceptions.
  2. An item is under an embargo for a specified period of time
    • The author can choose to send the requester a copy if their publisher agreement allows.
    • Request a copy from the author by selecting the file link and submitting the Request a copy form.
    • The library can provide a link to the publisher’s version of the item.
  3. An item is under an embargo at the request of the author
    • The author can elect to send the requester a copy if their publisher agreement allows.
    • Request a copy from the author by selecting the file link and submitting the Request a copy form.
    • The library cannot provide access until the embargo is lifted.
