Items can be restricted in the institutional repository for one of the following reasons:
- It is a metadata-only item.
- An item is under an embargo for a specified period of time due to publisher restrictions.
- An item is under an embargo at the request of the author.
How to get access for each of the above reasons:
- For metadata only records.
- Contact digitize@ucalgary.ca and we’ll see if we can digitize a copy and make it available to you under library exceptions.
- For items under an embargo due to publisher restrictions:
- The author can choose to send the requester a copy if their publisher agreement allows.
- Request a copy from the author by selecting the file link and submitting the Request a copy form.
- The library can provide a link to the publisher’s version of the item.
- For items under an embargo due to author restrictions:
- The author can elect to send the requester a copy if their publisher agreement allows.
- Request a copy from the author by selecting the file link and submitting the Request a copy form.
- The library cannot provide access until the embargo is lifted.
