Most audiovisual recordings in the EMI Music Canada Archive remain under copyright. The University of Calgary does not hold copyright for these materials. Copyright is typically held by Universal Music Canada or other rightsholders.
Library staff review access requests on your behalf to help ensure that access is provided in keeping with Canadian copyright law, donor agreements, and university policies. In most cases, approved access is provided through time-limited streaming for individual research, private study, or educational use.
Requests for download are reviewed separately and usually require permission from the copyright holder. When permission is needed, staff will guide you through the next steps.
Please contact Archives and Special Collections at asc@ucalgary.libanswers.com for more information.
