Google is not an academic source and should not be cited as a source.  Rather, Google is a search engine designed to help find materials that are available on the internet. In general, Google may be used to find information, but it should not be relied on to find academic sources.  See the U of A’s guide: Critical evaluation of internet resources.

Google Scholar is a source for locating scholarly information.  While it shouldn't be cited as a source, it can be used to help locate academic sources.  For access to articles in full text, access Google Scholar from our database list.
