Q. What materials are moving from Glenbow to the University of Calgary?

Answer

Highlights of the collection:

  • 5,500 linear metres of textual records
  • 2 million photographs
  • 600 hours of audio recordings
  • 4,000 videos and films
  • 125,000 volumes
  • 15,000 maps

The University of Calgary will be receiving the vast majority of the book collection, all other archival materials and collections, the map collection, the photographic collections (with a few exceptions), the main clipping files collection and other selected collections (to be determined). Glenbow is retaining its own corporate records, artist files as well as books and archival materials related to the visual arts.

The addition of Glenbow’s Library and Archives doubles the university’s archival and special collections holdings. Access to existing materials in the university’s Archives and Special Collections will not be affected.
