How can I find and access UCalgary Archives and Special Collections materials?

Answer

To search and discover archival materials, you can search UCalgary's Search Archives database online at https://searcharchives.ucalgary.ca/.   For books in special collections, archival finding aids, digital objects and more, search the library catalogue on the main library homepage at https://library.ucalgary.ca/ . UCalgary Archives and Special Collections also has materials which are available through our digital collections site at https://digitalcollections.ucalgary.ca/ .

You can access physical archives and special collections materials by appointment only in our reading room, the Glenbow Western Research Centre. We are located on the second floor the Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL). Our reading room hours are Monday - Friday from 10:00 am - 4:30 pm. Materials in archives and special collections do not circulate, and are can only be consulted in the reading room.

We need 1-2 business days notice of your chosen appointment time to retrieve materials as most of our collections are housed in a storage and preservation facility off-campus. Just let us know what items you would like to access and your preferred time to visit, and/or if you have any questions.  You can contact us by email at asc@ucalgary.libanswers.com or by phone at 403-220-3958
