Policy for filming and photography in University of Calgary libraries

The priority of Libraries and Cultural Resources (LCR) is to advance teaching, learning and research by providing exceptional service and study spaces in all University of Calgary libraries.

Filming and photography is limited to University of Calgary students, staff and faculty in relation to course work and academic research. External groups must have a direct relationship with an academic program at the university.

At least one week in advance, please complete a Filming and Photography Request and submit the form by email to lcrcomm@ucalgary.ca or in person at LCR reception on the 6th Floor of the Taylor Family Digital Library.

Filming and photography must take place during regular library hours and must not interfere with library business or disrupt students and other library users.

During the Fall and Winter instructional terms, filming and photography are not permitted in quiet study areas of floors 4 to 6 in the Taylor Family Digital Library.

Requests of a commercial nature

LCR is not able to accommodate requests that are commercial in nature. These include independent photography and video productions and the promotion of products and services that are not related to the University of Calgary.

Alternate locations for filming and photography on the University of Calgary campus may be arranged through Conference and Event Management.

Requests from the news media

Please contact Jennifer Sowa, LCR’s manager of communications and marketing, at jsowa@ucalgary.ca or 403-220-5964.
